Lenovo unveils new trio of ThinkBook devices for local SME customers

Earlier this week Lenovo held its first hardware-focused event for the year, with the special guests being three new notebooks in the company’s ThinkBook range – the ThinkBook 13s, ThinkBook 14 and ThinkBook 15.

All three devices, along withe their different specification options, are available in South Africa today, with Lenovo aiming them specifically at the local SME market.

The company explains this is because unlike the iconic ThinkPad range, which is specifically designed for corporate customers, the ThinkBook lineup is made with SME customers in mind who demand different features from notebooks.

“With the capacity SMEs have to grow and upskill the country’s workforce, they are perfectly positioned to bridge the gap between the public sector and large enterprise. Bearing in mind the demands of the digital economy, this sector needs skills and resources in order to compete, and that is where devices such as the ThinkBook come in”, explained Thibault Dousson, GM for the Lenovo EMEA region.

So what are these devices packing?

Staring with the ThinkBook 13s, as the name would suggest it sports a 13.3″ Full HD (1920×1080) display, with up to an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU present. The notebook can also be configured with up to 16GB of RAM and boasts up to 10 hours of battery life.

Stealing a trick from the Lenovo Yoga range, the 13s (as well as all the new ThinkBooks) features a hinge that allows the screen to rotate further than 180 degrees so it can be positioned in a few different modes.

Pricing for the 13s starts at R14 999.

If you’re wanting more screen real estate, that’s where the ThinkBook 14 and 15 come into play. As expected the former features a 14″ Full HD display and latter a larger 15.6″ version.

In terms of internal specifications the devices are quite similar, with Lenovo making up to a 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor available. Added to this is up to 24GB of DDR4 RAM, as well as the choice of either a 2TB HDD or 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD for storage.

As for price, the ThinkBook 14 starts from R16 299 and ThinkBook 15 at R12 499.
