What South African game developer Free Lives has planned for 2020

Cape Town based developer Free Lives – the company behind arguably South Africa’s most popular game, Broforce – has released an update letting people know what it will be doing in 2020, at least for the start of it.

The most noteworthy announcement here is around Gorn. The popular and extremely violent VR gladiator game has been on Steam for some time now, and will be on PSVR for the PlaySation 4 in the future.

Apparently this version of the game is only a couple of weeks away from being finished, but will then need to go through a lengthy authentication process before it is available. Because of this no date has been given for release.

Gorn for PSVR will also be available to play at PAX East in Boston, which takes place in late February and early March.

Next up is Broforce which will be receiving a sizeable update which will feature all manner of new content. Some of this has been revealed in part through livestreams on Free Lives’ YouTube channel.

As for less well known titles from the developer, Second Earth is a base building game where you need to establish a home for humanity in the stars while fighting off aliens.

Second Earth, in its unfinished state, is available to download and play for free from Itchi.io. Apparently it won’t remain this way forever, so grab it while you can.

Finally, an update for the mobile game Cricket Through the Ages may be coming too, but there’s no word on a potential time where the game isn’t exclusive to Apple Arcade.

It looks like a busy start of the year for this developer but we’re always happy to play more quality local content from them.
