Devolver Digital’s Sludge Life oozes style

Is your world simply not filled with enough a e s t h e t i c? Well allow us to introduce you to the latest game to be published by Devolver Digital in Sludge Life.

This first person title sees you exploring a very unique looking world as a graffiti artist getting up to a lot of… weird stuff aside from putting spray paint onto walls.

“Roam a tiny island stuck on a sludge covered planet as upcoming tagger GHOST, a breezy bandit set on staking their claim amongst the graffiti elite. Traverse the corporately branded landscape, link up with other taggers, and steal junk and hearts along the way. Will you become the king of the island and tag every open inch, infiltrate sludge-pumping corporation GLUG, or just take it all down in flames with you?” reads the official description of the game.

Aside from the description and the short reveal trailer embedded at the bottom of this story, we know a bit more about the game. There is an open world to explore but it’s rather small and described as “tiny”. In it you will be able to find and download apps to play if the main game gets a bit slow, and taking pictures around the world will be a mechanic. Once you complete the game there will also be three endings.

If Sludge Life looks or sounds familiar to you that may be because you played (or at least saw) the 2017 game High Hell. The two titles are both developed by the duo of Terri Vellmann and Doseone, and share Devolver Digital as the publisher. High Hell was generally well received with the only complaint we remember hearing of it being its short length.

When this game launches in Spring of this year it will be available on the Nintendo Switch and PC, but only through the Epic Games Store on the latter platform.

Sludge Life is, strangely enough, the second game to be announced by Devolver Digital just this week. Earlier we learned of Disc Room, a strange futuristic puzzle death game that looks to be at least 80 percent rotating saws.
