The Square Enix Marvel’s Avengers game is still on track for its 4th September release date after a delay, and when it launches you will be able to spend heaps of money on a recently announced collector’s edition.

The fancy name given to this version of the game is the “Earth’s Mightiest Edition” with the big ticket item in the box being a 12 inch (30.48 centimetre) PVC statue of Captain American, as made by Gentle Giant.

This is an off choice for two reasons. Firstly, this game’s interpretation of the character is not well liked with many resembling its uniform to hockey pads. Secondly, while it is a sizeable piece, Captain America is standing on a needlessly tall plinth which accounts for a lot of the figure’s height.

Putting that aside there’s actually a second figure here in the form of a six inch (15.24 centimetres) Hulk bobblehead.

Also included is a Black Widow hourglass belt buckle, a Mjölnir keychain, prototype “blueprints” for Iron Man’s armour, a pin, a steelbook and a printed photo of the Avengers.

For all of this you will be paying €219.99 (~R3 548) in Europe and other markets which import from that region.

if the price doesn’t scare you off there are some caveats here. Firstly there is no PC version of the Earth’s Mightiest Edition, despite the fact that the game will launch on Steam. Only PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are for sale through the Square Enix store at the time of writing.

The next thing to worry about is availability. For some reason changing the Square Enix store to other countries will cause the Earth’s Mightiest Edition to not appear, meaning that you can’t buy it directly from the publisher in other countries.

We’re sure it will be available everywhere through other channels, but it’s worth noting now for those considering buying this.

In the last bit of news about this game today, we finally have a new trailer to watch. It’s not very long at just a couple of seconds over the minute mark and there isn’t much new in it, but it’s good to see more of this title after so little was put into the world for so long.
