Motorola razr teardown shows what the folding phone is sporting internally

Today is Motorola razr launch day, if you live in the United States, as those people who re-ordered the new foldable phone are expected to receive their devices.

While we still await word on when the rest of the world will be able to purchase the handset, and indeed whether countries like South Africa are under consideration, we have a teardown video of the device to find out what Motorola chose to put inside it.

The video does not come from a favourite of ours, iFixit, but rather YouTube channel PBK Reviews, following a similar teardown style of disassembling the device and finding out just how easy it would be to repair.

Based on the teardown video below, anyone confident enough to try to repair the device on their own will have a job on their hands. This as accessing the internal elements of the device is a mission in and of itself, requiring you to heat up the glue holding the back portion in place, before removing and make your way through several screws and cables before the foldable display is found.

After an exhaustive process of disassembling and reassembling the Motorola razr, PBK Reviews goes on t he record as saying, “that the phone isn’t repairable at all by most people.” As such if you do happen to run into an issue with your Motorola razr, a visit to a certified and professional repair centre is your best bet.

Given the complexity of the design, perhaps that’s one of the reasons why the initial launch of the device is restricted to a small number of countries for now.

In the coming weeks and months though, we should have a better idea as to the wear and tear the razr can handle.
