Comic Con Cape Town officially cancelled

Part of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s declaration of a national state of disaster on 15th March included a ban on gatherings of 100 people or more.

With that in mind several local events have been cancelled including The Rand Show and now the local geek community has been struck as well.

Reed Exhibitions has confirmed that Comic Con Cape Town will no longer be taking place this year. Instead, the organisers will hold the event in 2021.

“The organising team is deeply saddened and regrets this unavoidable turn of events,” portfolio director at Reed Exhibitions, Carla Massmann said in a statement.

The event will now be held from 24th April to 27th April 2021 and will take place at the Cape Town Stadium.

Attendees who have already purchased tickets can roll those tickets over to 2021 or, Howler can be contacted for a refund.

Reed Exhibitions has said that it will keep fans informed regarding the talent for next year’s event.
