Creator of Desktop Goose makes another fun way to mess up your PC

Earlier this year programmer Sam Chiet impressed with Desktop Goose, a mixture of Untitled Goose Game and Clippy that caused havoc on your computer, but in a fun way. Now he’s back with Gravity Typist, which swaps irritating birds for a deluge of letters which litter your screen.

“What if every time you pressed a key, it got added to an ever-growing pile that eventually made your computer screen entirely unusable? The answer to that question which nobody asked, is here,” reads the Gravity Typist description.

Yes, as you can see in the short demo video embedded below, this programme sits on top of your OS and causes each letter you type to fall from the sky and pile up at the bottom of your screen. These letters cover up everything else and become a problem very fast.

This persists even when you’re doing other things like trying to play a game, so you can be assaulted by a wave of WASD as you try and play.

When you get tired of this you can hit F1 which will cause a small explosion, sending the letters flying. This is because the programme isn’t just a set of animations, and the letters have some physicality to them.

Those who follow Chiet’s work (which everyone should do) may have already seen and experienced Gravity Typist because it was released early onto his Patreon. Now, however, it’s free for everyone and can be downloaded from itcho.io. It’s a tiny 55 Mb file and, as always with itch.io, you can leave a tip for uploader should you feel so inclined to support this madness,

Hopefully this new programme picks up as much steam as Desktop Goose did, but maybe we can avoid it being installed on work and school computers, which the latter eventually spread to.
