Future Revolution is ‘Marvel’s first open world RPG on mobile’

While we patiently wait for the release of the console and PC Avengers game from Crystal Dynamics, a new Marvel mobile game has been announced in Future Revolution.

The big selling point for this title is that it’s “Marvel’s first open world RPG on mobile”, which is a phrase being thrown around for most of the game’s early marketing.

Information on the game is rather sparse at the moment but from the short announcement trailer (embedded below) we can glean some details.

Right now it looks like the core cast here is Captain America, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel and Spider-Man. Through some dimension hopping shenanigans multiple versions of each character exist at the same time, and we see some alternate versions of those four characters such as Spider-Punk.

When the camera pans up here we see that the world appears to have folded on itself in a very Inception-esque way. This type of visual was used extensively throughout the 2016 Doctor Strange movie so perhaps we’ll get more of the interesting visuals from that movie in Future Revolution.

The official website for this game is extremely sparse and offers just about nothing else to know. It’s only real use here is that you can leave your email address to be notified about more information in the future when it becomes available. Digging around and you can get a clearer image of the folded city we mentioned above. It makes a decent wallpaper.

Marvel Future Revolution is being developed by Netmarble and does not have a release date or window as of yet. We have to wonder if it’s release will be anywhere near the aforementioned Crystal Dynamics Avengers game which is slated for a September 2020 release. We don’t imagine these two will cannibalise each other’s players or playtime, but we may see them pop up in a similar window.
