How to get in contact with Eskom during lockdown

The worry at the back of our minds with an impending nationwide lockdown is Eskom.

While the utility has not implemented loadshedding since 15th March, it has said that loadshedding remains a possibility.

For now loadshedding is not a concern.

What is a concern, however, is your power going off unexpectedly due to a fault or breakage.

This afternoon Eskom released a statement detailing how customers can report issues to the utility.

First and foremost, Eskom’s walk-in centres and hubs will be closed for the foreseeable future for obvious reasons.

In addition, Eskom will only be attending to “critical services” during the 21-day lockdown.

“These services include all unplanned outages, emergencies, token related queries and meter readings. Eskom will revert back to its full array of services when the lockdown period is officially over,” said Eskom.

In light of this Eskom has asked customers to make use of the following contact methods to get in touch:

  • Telephonically on 086 003 7566
  • Email at customerservices@eskom.co.za
  • SMS to 35328
  • The MyEskom app for Android
  • The customer service portal on the Eskom website.

The utility said that it would provide updates in a timely manner should its operational situation change.

Further to this Eskom will detail its plans to keep the lights on during the forthcoming lockdown, later today.
