Lenovo unveils new Legion gaming notebooks with latest Nvidia and Intel components

While most of the world concerns itself with the COVID-19 pandemic, there still events that continue regardless. One of those is new hardware unveilings, and Lenovo recently did precisely that with some freshly minted Legion gaming notebooks, with the new lineup sporting Nvidia’s latest GPUs and Intel’s new Core-H series of processors.

The new Legion lineup consists of two devices in particular – the Lenovo Legion 7i and Lenovo Legion 5i. Both are a little less hardcore gaming focused than some of the other notebooks that the Chinese firm has brought into the country previously, such as the Legion Y740, and as such are designed for users who want to work and game on the same notebook.

That said Lenovo hasn’t held back when it comes to components for either the 7i or 5i.

Lenovo Legion 5i

Starting with the lesser spec’ed of the two, the Legion 5i will feature up to an Nvidia RTX 2060 GPU, as well as supporting G-SYNC and Intel’s 10th Gen Core-H processors. It remains to be seen which processor options will be available, but regardless, users can expect clocking speeds of 5.0GHz or higher.

Pricing for the Legion 5i starts at $999 Stateside, with the gaming notebook expected to arrive in the second half of 2020. A precise local launch date is unknown, but the notebook is expected to cost in the region of R17 979, depending on exchange rates of course, which are a little volatile currently.

As for the Legion 7i (pictured in header image), it too will cater to the Intel 10th Gen Core-H mobile processors, with it likely support the flagship models from the silicon maker. On the GPU front, this notebook will be running up to GeForce RTX Super graphics card, but the precise model is unknown for now.

Being the higher spec’ed model, the Legion 7i’s retail price starts at $1 199 (~R21 577), but again a local price and launch date are yet to be determined.

If you’re wanting to give yourself notebook an upgrade once the lockdown is done, the new Legion devices from Lenovo may be worth considering during the back end of 2020.
