Cell C fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) customers on the Vumatel, SADV and Frogfoot networks will also note their line speed doubling as from 1st April.

This increased line speed will be in effect for two months before customers are returned to their original speed.

Cell C has also, in partnership with Starlogik, launched StarCALL. The services is being billed as a free ping/missed call service that customers can make use of even when they are out of airtime.

Simply put a Cell C customer without airtime can dial * followed by the number they wish to ping or missed call.

The call is then routed to Starlogik’s virtual switch and the number is pinged/miss called.

“The problem of zero-balance unconnected users is a world-wide problem affecting billions of people. These voiceless markets are excluded from being able to communicate with loved ones or in times of emergencies,” Cell C chief executive officer, Douglas Craigie Stevenson, said in a statement.
