Mr D Food and Checkers have partnered to deliver prescriptions

We’re seeing a number of companies shift their product offering to accommodate the lockdown South Africans are currently in.

We’ve seen Takealot open up shopping for essential goods, Uber Eats is now delivering groceries and so is Bottles, the app that was exclusively delivering booze to South Africans before lockdown commenced.

Now, Mr D Food has announced that it has teamed up with Checkers to deliver prescriptions and medication to MediRite pharmacy customers.

Customers will need to contact their local Medirite pharmacy to place an order. Customers should take note of the MediRite order number as they will need to quote this number when requesting a delivery through Mr D Food.

As for deliveries, Mr D Food chief executive officer, Devin Sinclair says that contactless delivery has been put in place.

“Drivers have been instructed not to make physical contact with any customer and to maintain a safe distance. Bags will be placed on a surface indicated by you; the driver will then back away and allow you to pick out your order yourself. We have also temporarily deactivated cash payments and customers can use one of our other secure electronic payment methods available in app – credit / debit card, instant EFT or eBucks,” said Sinclair.

For South Africans who require prescription medication to be filled, this is a great service.

The Mr D Food app is available for Android and iOS for free.
