Rick and Morty season 4, episode 6: A return to meta form

The fourth season of Rick and Morty has been a tumultuous one. The season was chopped in half and the reception of the first five episodes was rather lukewarm.

The remaining episodes –  called “The Other Five” – are coming soon though. Americans will be able to see episode six on 3rd May, and South Africans get it 24 hours later on Showmax come 4th May.

Thanks to Showmax, we’ve got to see an early screening of this next episode. While we can’t reveal much at all due to spoilers, we do want to say that this really feels like a return to form for Rick and Morty.

Those who favour meta episodes will particularly like this one. Again we can’t elaborate on that, but it’s a twist on the typical patchwork nature of similar episodes of the show. If that sounds nebulous make sure to tune in when the upside is out.

Thankfully, for those left bewildered by some of the crazier stuff in the trailer embedded below, some of it is explained in this episode. Not all of it, however, so we still recommend tuning in every week to see where those teases lead. We really hope Justin Roiland and co. can stick the landing here and leave us excited for a season five far in the future.

A list of The Other Five and their airing dates on Showmax can be found below:

  • Never Ricking Morty – Monday, 4th May
  • Promortyus – Monday, 11th May
  • The Vat of Acid – Monday, 18th May
  • Childrick of Mort – Monday, 25th May
  • Star mort Rickturn of the Jerri – Monday, 1st June
