MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries quietly added to Xbox Game Pass

Well here’s a bit of a surprise for subscribers to Xbox Game Pass on PC – MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is now available on the platform without an announcement or any sort of fanfare.

Some people online managed to find it a few minutes ago at the time of writing and, if you have an active subscription to the service, you can now go and download it.

The download is 43.6GB so set aside the time (and possibly the data to bring it down.

Aside from just suddenly appearing this addition is also strange due to the fact that, just a few hours ago, the official account for the service announced new titles to be added with MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries nowhere to be seen.

The announcement above was also contentious because subscribers on console are getting Red Dead Redemption 2. In past months PC players have also missed out on Nier: Automata in a similar situation, leaving us all a bit raw. We’re not sure if those two games are an even exchange for MechWarrior 5, but we’ll take what we can get.

As for whether or not this game is worth your time is a tricky question. Going off of the opinion of one of our freelance writers, MechWarrior 5 is a fun enough time but it’s rather heavy in the grind department and is overall rough around the edges.

That being said, if you’re already subscribed to Xbox Game Pass for PC, you may as well give it a go.

While you wait for the download to complete we recommend checking out these impressive 3D printed and articulated recreations of various mechs from the franchise. The Timber Wolf, Hellbringer, Huntsman, and Atlas have all been given this treatment.
