Summer Game Fest will feature 4 months of announcements starting tomorrow

With so many events being postponed or cancelled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re seeing a boat load of digital events taking place or being planned.

Case in point is the Summer Game Fest which kicks off in earnest on 12th May.

The brain-child of Geoff Keighley, the Summer Game Fest is a four month long event feature gaming news from several publishers including EA, 2K Games, Bungie and CD Projekt among many others.

With E3 having been cancelled for 2020, Summer Game Fest is something we’re keen to tune in for especially as we await news on several new titles.

But the four-month long event is not just about announcements.

“It’s all the news you’ve been waiting for, but also in-game events, playable content and demos of select titles and a bunch of fun surprises,” Keighley wrote in a statement earlier this month.

The first event in Summer Game Fest took place last week with the Inside Xbox stream that failed to hit the mark for fans.

However, the second event takes place on 12th May and we have no idea what it’s meant to be for.

Titled Sunrise #1 all we know is that a “surprise game” will be revealed. Unfortunately we can’t even speculate about what the game might be.

Seriously, check out the list of publishers involved in this announcement:

  • 2K Games
  • Activision
  • Bandai Namco
  • Bethesda
  • Blizzard
  • Bungie
  • CD Projekt
  • Digital Extremes
  • EA
  • PlayStation
  • Private Division
  • Riot Games
  • Square Enix
  • Steam
  • Warner Bros.
  • Xbox

With that in mind we could throw a dart and hit a potential game being revealed tomorrow.

The surprise reveal is set to kick off at 18:00 CAT on 12th May.

As for where to watch the announcement there isn’t a URL as of time of writing but given that the Summer Game Fest announcement is on the Game Awards’ YouTube channel we’d advise checking there tomorrow.

Alternatively head to the Summer Game Fest website to keep updated on forthcoming events over the next four months.
