MTN Business donates 5000 smartphones to COVID-19 workers in Limpopo

Field workers from the Limpopo Provincial Department of Health will be receiving free smartphones from MTN Business to assist with their work regarding COVID-19.

As many as 5 000 smartphones will be donated by MTN Business and each smartphone will be preloaded with 3GB of data. The handsets will assist with the conducting of tests, screening of citizens and tracing of people who have come into contact with COVID-19 patients.

“Smartphones have been identified as key equipment that health and field workers require in the fight to stem the spread of COVID-19. We believe that the provision of these devices will help national relief efforts and provide field workers – who are at the coalface of fighting this pandemic – with the tools needed to communicate and
effectively carry out their duties,” general manager of regional operations at MTN Business, Matthew Khumalo, said in a statement.

MTN has also pledged to conduct free after sales services which include device repairs or replacement, on-site device support and account management.

The mobile network operator says that it has also made several contributions to the fight against COVID-19 at both provincial and national levels.
