Three classic Pokémon movies are streaming for free, legally

Everyone is looking for more stuff to watch right now with quarantines and lockdowns being the new norm, and Pokémon has provided just that with a few free hours of movies to watch.

The company has made three classic movies free to watch on its often neglected Pokémon TV platform. Those three movies, including links to each, are available below:

Those unoriginal and confusing names aside what’s special here – aside from a load of free content – is the ease of access.

Following the links above just automatically play the movies. No need to create an account or sign up for a free trial or anything like that, just hit play.

We’ve even used a VPN to check for potential geoblocking and there doesn’t seem to be any of that either.

The only real problem here is that of picture quality. As far as we can see there’s no option to force a certain resolution or quality preset, and much of the movie is a terrible blocky mess that looks lower than 144p.

Even on a 100 Mbps connection the problem persists, and leaving the stream for a while to buffer doesn’t seem to help either. Hopefully this is just caused by so many people watching after the announcement, and things will get better with time.

There’s no official word on how long these freebies will be available, so catch them while you can.

If you only have time for one our pick is the third movie. It’s got a really great mysterious atmosphere and features one of the best animated fights between Ash’s Charizard and Entei.

It’s also worth noting here that the remake of the first movie, the 3D animated Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution, is still up on Netflix. We don’t think it’s as good as the original and it’s not free, but it’s worth checking out if you’ve already seen the above three a few times.
