Konnect Africa assisting 8 clinics in Mpumalanga with connectivity during lockdown

As the country’s phased approach to lockdown continues, connectivity remains a pressing issue, especially for those services that are fighting on the front line against the spread of COVID-19.

In a bid to assist those in the healthcare industry specifically, Konnect Africa (a Eutelsat Communications subsidiary) is offering free broadband connectivity to eight clinics in the Mpumalanga area.

As the service provider explains, these clinics are in areas where terrestrial networks are not able to provide appropriate bandwidth.

Each of the eight clinics will receive 300GB of data monthly over the next few months, although the precise length for which connectivity will be freely provided, has not been outlined.

Regardless this activity, which has been carried out by one of Konnect Africa’s local distributors, Logical Wireless, will go a long way to serving the underserved healthcare facilities in the province.

This operation demonstrates our ability to respond as quickly as possible to the connectivity needs of institutional and business structures, even in complex times such as these. We want South Africa to benefit from our expertise and the quality of our broadband services in this country by providing free connectivity to rural health and government based facilities,” says Jean-Claude Tshipama, CEO of Konnect Africa.

For now there is no word on whether the service provider plans to extend its free offer of broadband connectivity to other parts of the country.
