Sony to debut new compact Alpha vlogging camera later this month

There could be a new piece of kit that vloggers will want to get their hands on, as Sony has teased a forthcoming Alpha compact camera that is designed with that market in mind. We don’t know what the new Sony Alpha ZV-1 will be packing, but there are rumours regarding the device.

As for when the compact camera will see the light of day, Sony sent out an announcement on Twitter confirming that a full reveal will arrive on 26th May, with an accompanying image teasing what the silhouette of the device will look like.

In terms of the rumoured features the ZV-1 is said to sport a one inch 20MP sensor to capture images and video, with eye tracking autofocus for vloggers when they’re holding the camera and recording on the move. There’s also a 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 lens reportedly onboard, a 3-capsule microphone and rotating touchscreen to orientate for vlogging purposes, along with a grip.

With most compact cameras on the market needed to fitted with extras in order to work in a vlogging environment, which too applies for DSLRs and mirrorless offerings, having a camera that is purpose-built for content creators might prove worthwhile.

Come 26th May, we should have a better idea of what the ZV-1 is capable of.
