Mother’s Day on lockdown – Where to order gifts online

Many South Africans will be spending Mother’s Day away from family due to restrictions in place for level 4 of lockdown.

The good news is that there are several retailers offering deliveries during this time so that you can get your mom a gift.

Options are – as you might expect – rather limited due to restrictions and as such we recommend placing an order sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment this coming Sunday.

While all of the retailers we’ve listed below sell and deliver essentials, not all of them are offering Mother’s Day Gifts. That means you might have to get creative regarding what gifts you give.

Loot

Loot has a decent amount of essential products but no Mother’s Day section like some retailers. That being said there is a range of smartphones and tech gadgets as well as snacks from the likes of Montagu. There isn’t a lot but you could easily build a nice little gift basket to have delivered to your mother.

You shop Loot’s deals online here.

Takealot

We placed an order with Takealot right at the top of lockdown and our experience was disappointing. That having been said the retailer has a wide range of products for sale as well as a specific section where you can shop for mom.

There is a fair amount of tech, snacks and beauty products on sale that you can order online and have delivered to your mom.

You can shop Takealot’s Mother’s Day deals online here.

NetFlorist

NetFlorist pivoted hard at the start of lockdown to deliver fresh fruit, vegetables and meat. Since then the retailer has shifted to offering pretty much anything you can think of from cereal all the way to Mother’s Day gifts.

While there is an entire section of Mother’s Day gifts, we urge you to check when the next available delivery is. For instance a hamper containing Toblerone chocolates is only available for delivery from 31st December for some bizarre reason.

Regardless, you can shop Netflorist’s Mother’s Day deals here.

One Day Only

Much like Loot, One Day Only doesn’t have a specific Mother’s Day section.

That means you’re going to have to get creative with what you get for mom. Something that does help are stickers on the site which clearly showcase what is available for delivery.

You can shop One Day Only’s deals (which change daily) on the website.

Bottles

Previously Bottles was a delivery service that delivered alcohol exclusively. Since lockdown however the app has shifted to include deliveries of essentials from Pick n Pay.

Because of this, you can shop for a Mother’s Day Gift from Pick n Pay using Bottles and have it delivered. What’s more is that if you use the discount code FLOWERPOWER45 at checkout, you’ll get R45 off your order.

Bottles is available for Android and iOS.

Do you have any other places you’ve spotted where folks can purchase Mother’s Day gifts and have them delivered? Give us a shout on Facebook or Twitter.
