Organisers still planning in-person expo for CES 2021

This year has seen a number of tech events cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, restricted travel and general fears around infections and spread of the coronavirus. We’ve already seen some high-profile events be postponed or go virtual, but the organisers of CES 2021 in Las Vegas next year still plan to host an in-person event.

“While we plan to produce another in-person event in Las Vegas, we all face new considerations around attending conferences, conducting business and travelling to meetings. Just as your companies are innovating to overcome the challenges this pandemic presents, we are adapting to the evolving situation,” explained organisers regarding CES 2021.

With CES responsible for bringing thousands of visitors to Las Vegas at the beginning of each year, it is understandable that organisers would want to get the event up and running for 2021.

At this stage though, there does not seem to be any end in sight for COVID-19, especially in the United States, which has the highest number of positive cases out of any country in the world.

If somehow organisers were to get permission to host an in-person CES 2021, it still remains to be seen which tech companies, exhibitors and attendees would be willing to risk it in order to head there.

As far as what CES 2021 is planning to do to put exhibitor and attendee mids at ease, there are new health and safety protocols that will be implemented.

These include:

“These measures are just a sampling of what we plan for CES 2021. The meetings world is developing and implementing best practices, and we will assess and evaluate the latest solutions in the coming months. We will continue to work with our venues in Las Vegas, update our plans and share them with you,” organisers add.

Despite all the best practices that CES 2021 plans to have, we doubt many people in the tech industry will want to venture to Las Vegas early next year.
