Latest version of Opera integrates Twitter into browser sidebar

Opera has this week released a new version of its browser, and while it does not feature a wide array of changes, it does include one that Twitter users in particular will be interested in.

To that end, fully fledged Twitter integration has been added to the sidebar within the Opera browser. The integration features many of the key tools that Twitter users will need, including access to your main timeline, the ability to create and send tweets, look at direct messages and search of the social media platform.

All of this is accessible without having to log into your account or open up the Twitter website.

Opera says it is the first major browser to add integration for Twitter to its setup, with it also adding other popular social media platforms to its sidebar, such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Telegram.

Whether the addition of Twitter will make the browser more appealing remains to be seen, but its clear that quicker access to social media is one way that Opera is looking to attract more users to its browser and ecosystem of services.

This latest build of the browser, called Opera 69, also has a few other features baked into it, such as being able to add a weather widget to the start page. The company adds that improvements have also been made to the tab cycler and workplace tools on the browser too.

There is of course the other features that Opera is known for as well in this latest build, such as an ad-blocker, along with faster loading page load speeding, and the ability to access a free VPN tool.

With Apple also making improvements to its Safari browser in macOS Big Sur, as well as Google working on enhancing Chrome on Windows 10 devices, it looks like the browser wars are heating up once again.
