The origami sheets for Paper Mario pre-orders are available in South Africa

Due to the fact that South Africa is a smaller market compared to others, and the regional nature of physical pre-order bonuses, it’s not always clear what incentives will be available in the country. Thankfully for those buying Paper Mario: The Origami King, they will be able to get some free swag.

At the time of writing online retailer Raru, as well as BT Games, are offering origami sheets for pre-orders of the physical edition of the game.

These sheets can be folded into various origami versions of classic Mario characters. It seems that 12 of these sheets are included but, at least right now, no images look to have been released showing off what they look like once correctly folded.

Putting aside the bad customer experiences we’ve had with both Raru and BT Games, it looks like the latter is the better way to go if you’re considering buying this game for the pre-order incentive. This is because BT Games is also throwing in a keyring featuring a Goomba. You can see both of these below.

We know that, at the end of the day, these are rather low price items thrown in. Given the fact that both stores are selling the pre-order for R1 099, it’s a small boost for a bigger purchase.

We also wouldn’t be surprised if scans for the origami sheets appear online come release day for Paper Mario: The Origami King – 17th July. Barring the authentic sheets becoming a high price collector’s item, you should be able to get the experience by having a colour printer on hand.

Also, while the Paper Mario series is beloved, there’s no guarantee that this new entry will be any good. Pre-orders are a bit of a gamble and we always recommend waiting for review first, regardless of incentives like this.

For now it’s just nice to know that our market is getting these freebies, and they’re a nice addition if you were adamant about pre-ordering regardless.
