Galarian Slowbro sure does look like Mega Man, huh?

After a long period of silence on the matter we finally have more information about the Expansion Pass for Pokémon Sword and Shield. A lot of information has been revealed recently but our favourite has to be the reveal of Galarian Slowbro.

This regional variant of the generation one Pokémon has a rather unique design where the Shellder originally attached to its tail has instead bitten onto its arm turning into some kind of weird biological gun.

What we immediately thought of was Mega Man as the Shellder looks a lot like the bulbous Mega Buster. You can see our attempt at making that joke in the header image above, and we weren’t the only ones to notice the similarity.

This of course also draws comparisons to Samus Aran and Sans as that character appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

“The Shellder that’s latched onto Slowbro sometimes unconsciously bites down harder on Slowbro’s arm, causing an itch that drives Slowbro to start wildly swinging its arm around and smashing its surroundings. With a speed that puts even the quickest reflexes to shame, Slowbro readies its Shellder and makes poisonous liquid shoot from the Shellder’s tip,” reads the official description of this new Pokémon.

Galarian Slowbro aside there’s still a lot more that’s been revealed by the trailer embedded above and a massive press release you can read here.

The Isle of Armor DLC, for example, is out rather soon on 17th June. This is the first half of the Expansion Pass and will be followed up by The Crown Tundra in Autumn this year. We assume that’s the US Autumn, which is between late September and late December.

Gigantamax forms of the starters Blastoise and Venusaur have been shown off, as has the Galarian variants of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. They really will never stop going back to the first generation.

Regieleki and Regidrago are brand new, however, but still build on old ideas. These represent electric and dragon Pokémon respectively of the Legendary Titans.

Aside from the press release and trailer above, you can alse check out the Isle of Armor section of the official Pokémon website.
