Only six days left to apply to join Huawei’s Seeds for the Future 2020

Students studying a course in computer science, electronic science, information technology, software engineering or any other ICT related field may want to pay attention to this call from Huawei.

Together with the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, Huawei South Africa has put out a call for students to apply to join the Seeds for the Future 2020 Online Programme.

Started in 2016, Seeds for the Future brings the most outstanding ICT students together to study the latest and greatest in technology. Usually, these students would go on a two-week trip to China but as you might expect, that’s not possible given the COVID-19 pandemic.

As such, 20 students will participate in an interactive online course for the 2020 programme.

Huawei says that it will take on the data costs of the 20 students and prizes will be awarded to top performing students. Certificates will be awarded to students upon successful completion of the course.

Minister of Communications and Digital Technology, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams says that the pandemic has proved to be the spur needed to fast track digital transformation in South Africa.

“I urge all students studying ICT to think of their roles in this new society and to explore all opportunities that are available to them, to improve their skills to become world class ICT professionals,” said the minister.

Applications for the Seeds of the Future 2020 Online Programme close on 21st July and ICT students who are interested should send their application to saseeds[at]huawei.com.

“This program seeks to develop local ICT talent, enhance knowledge sharing, and improve people’s understanding and interest in the ICT industry. It also encourages countries across different regions to participate in the construction of digital communities,” said Huawei in a statement.
