Stage 1 loadshedding will start at 09:00 on Wednesday

Following a day of Stage 2 loadshedding, Eskom is set to provide a modicum of relief to South Africans as it moves to Stage 1 loadshedding.

The utility did make progress in returning generation units to service on Tuesday but it reports there is still more to do.

“Today Eskom teams have successfully returned a generation unit each at the Medupi and Majuba power station to service,” Eskom said in a power alert on Tuesday evening.

While the additional capacity helps, it is not enough to suspend loadshedding altogether.

As such, Eskom foresees that today will have loadshedding run form 09:00 until 22:00.

“Eskom teams are working around the clock to return as many generation units as possible. The colder weather also means demand for electricity has risen significantly,” wrote the utility.

Eskom has asked that South Africans with electricity use it sparingly.

As always you find out where to locate your loadshedding schedule here.

Alternatively we recommend downloading the EskomSePush app for Android or iOS smartphones to get push notifications for your area.
