Jason David Frank, the most recognisable Power Rangers actor, will be featured in the Online Con for Comic Con Africa.

The physical event for Comic Con Africa 2020 was cancelled with a slew of online activities now taking its place – this is what Frank will be involved in.

Because of these those hoping to meet Tommy Oliver in person will be disappointed, but can look forward to Q&A sessions on all four days of the online event, as well as “other exciting fan interactions” which have not been announced as of yet.

“We have heard our fans’ requests for a Power Rangers guest and nothing makes us more excited than to bring dreams to life. Jason David Frank is a legendary name in the Power Rangers series, and we couldn’t be happier to announce that he will be joining our Online Con,” says Carla Massmann, portfolio director for Comic Con Africa.

Frank is arguably the biggest name they could have gotten from the series, with Pink Ranger Amy Jo Johnson being a close second. The pair made a joint cameo in the 2017 standalone Power Rangers movie (see below for the short scene).

Comic Con Africa’s Online Con takes place between 24th and 27th August 2020, 10:00 to 18:00 local time every day.

If you’re not a Power Rangers fan or don’t care for Frank other confirmed guests include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman, retired wrestler Bret Hart, and a slew of artists from the comics industry.

Comic Con Africa has a spotty record when it comes to celebrity guests after Anthony Mackie pulled out of attending two years in a row, and the show’s maiden voyage lost Jason Momoa. We can only hope that, now that this is an online event, there will be less reason for the big names to flake out.
