Death Stranding has been the Steam top seller since launch

Death Stranding has been having an exceptional time on PC after making the jump from being a PlayStation 4 exclusive, as confirmed by its developer Kojima Productions.

The company has stated that the game has been number one on the overall top seller list on Steam ever since its launch.

The game was launched on the platform on 14th July so we’re fast approaching a week of dominance on the charts.

24 hours after its launch the game was doing well with thousands of positive reviews, and this has only increased in the subsequent days. At the time of writing, 93 per cent of the 6 807 reviews left on the game have been positive.

As for how many people have actually bought the game no official numbers have been released yet. Steam Charts reports that the peak concurrent amount of players since launch was 32 072, and SteamSpy estimates the total number of owners to be between 500 000 and one million.

These numbers are of course third party estimates using Steam’s public tools but they are good indicators. It’s also worth mentioning that they do not include any data from the Epic Games Store, where Death Stranding is also for sale.

On the community side of the things a contest using the game’s photo mode also wrapped up with the winners available to see here.

“The response has been overwhelming so far and we want to take this opportunity to thank you all for the amazing love, support, passion and enthusiasm you’ve displayed across all our community channels. On behalf of everyone here at 505 Games and KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, thank you so, so much!,” says Antonela Pounder, community manager at 505 Games.
