Ghost of Tsushima is the fastest selling new property on PS4

We now have some early indicators into the success of Sucker Punch’s new game Ghost of Tsushima, and things are looking very good for this PlayStation 4 exclusive.

“Ghost of Tsushima is now PS4’s fastest selling first-party original IP debut with more than 2.4 million units sold through globally in its first 3 days of sales,” announced the official PlayStation account.

To put that number into perspective unofficial reports put digital sales of The Last of Us Part 2 at around 2.8 million in its launch month of June. While that number is likely much higher when factoring in physical sales, we’ll have to wait for word from Sony or Naughty Dog to know the real amount.

The game has been beating out the likes of Paper Mario: The Origami King in international game charts too. While both games are console exclusives for different systems the pair launched on 17th July to compete for people’s money.

With today, 24th July, marking a week since both games have launched we’re hoping to learn more about the sales figures of each. While some industry collectives have been calculating them based off third party figures, it’s always nice to see some official numbers from the developers and publishers.

“We are so appreciative of everyone who contributed to such an amazing launch for [Ghost of Tsushima]! Thank you to all of you who have played so far – it means the world to us!” Writes Sucker Punch.

If you’re still unsure about Ghost of Tsushima you can read our written review of the game here, our listen to our thoughts on it in a recent edition of our podcast.

To spoil the pair: there’s a reason so many people are buying the game as it’s a fun experience all around. it gets a recommendation from us if you’re looking for something new to play.
