You can now annoy your friends with your own Facebook Avatar

Facebook has announced that its Avatar feature has started rolling out across sub-Saharan Africa.

The feature does not turn you into one of the Na’vi from Pandora but does allow you to create a caricature of yourself.

“There are many ways you can use your avatar including in comments, Stories, Messenger and soon, text posts with backgrounds too. With so many emotions and expressions to choose from, avatars let you share your authentic reactions and feelings with family and friends across the app. You can customise your avatar with hairstyles, complexions, outfits, COVID-19 support stickers and more,” reads a press release from Facebook announcing the feature.

To create your Avatar simply head to Messenger and open a chat.

Tap the smiley/emoji icon in the text box and select stickers.

You’re then going to look for the icon circled in red below. Tap that and you can start creating your digital likeness.

There are a wide range of customisation options to choose from and once you’ve created the Avatar it will be available as a Sticker from the menu of the same name.

As Facebook mentioned some of these stickers have greetings while others are COVID-19 related.

It’s a smart little feature but will we ever use it beyond today?

Hang on, we have a sticker for that.
