Facebook’s new browser design will be default in September

Over the past couple of months, you have noticed a change to the design of Facebook while accessing it via your browser. These changes have included a new layout, a dark mode, as well as some refinements to logos and icons to look a bit more modern.

Said design is set to be the default as of September, according to a report from Engadget.

Precisely when in September is unknown, but the publication notes that the ability to opt-out of the new design will no longer be an option next month.

“The classic Facebook experience will no longer be available starting in September. Before the new Facebook.com becomes the default experience, we want to learn about how we can improve,” explains a pop up notification on the Support Page of the platform.

With the ability to test out the new layout for Facebook rolling out across the globe in May, we’re assuming that the social media platform already has plenty of user feedback. As for whether any of this feedback will be used to improve the design moving forward, remains to be seen.

While the new aesthetic is pleasing, it is also unclear if it will help Facebook deal with issues that have been plaguing it of late, with hate groups and the spread of misinformation in particular being some of its ills.
