You can now register for Comic Con Africa Online

Back in June the in-person event for Comic Con Africa 2020 was cancelled and an entirely online version was set up in its place. Now you can put your name down to be registered for this new digital experience.

The opening of registration also brings with it some details about what we can look forward to during the event and its dates – 24th to 27th September 2020, 10:00 to 18:00 local time.

The Comic Con Africa organisers are setting up a central hub where visitors can access all the online components expected of the normal con.

“The platform will be a central hub at the Con where fans can access virtual zones, packed with engaging content and exhibition halls, exhibitor stands and shopping. Content across this special platform will include much of what fans are used to seeing at a physical Con like celeb Q&A’s, virtual cosplay, gaming tournaments, Artist Alley, table top gaming and wargaming and panel discussions with leading experts and fascinating speakers,” reads a press release sent to us.

Registration is open right here and requires the usual mix of personal and contact details.

In return for registration, aside from access to the platform mentioned above, visitors are promised a “virtual goodie bag” (if registered before 18th September), entry into various contests being run throughout, a digital visitor badge and a show guide sent out before the public release.

As for what visitors can expect there’s the usual mix of con including comic book artists and writers, exclusive merch sales and celebrity guests. On that last front Tom Hopper, Bret “The Hitman” Hart and David Jason Frank have all been confirmed so far.

“From live streams to live chats to interactive quizzes and shopping opportunities, this hub will offer everything you’d hope for and more – including a handy help desk with online assistance from the Comic Con Africa team. Additionally, content will be streamed on various streaming channels on the web such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitch,” continues the release.

For a taste of how these kinds of events run you can check out DC FanDome happening this weekend.
