The most liked tweet now belongs to the late Chadwick Boseman

At the weekend we awoke to the sad news that Chadwick Boseman had passed away.

The actor had been fighting stage three colon cancer over the last four years in which time he starred in Black Panther, 21 Bridges, Da 5 Bloods and many more.

Like much of the world, we learned about Boseman’s passing via his official Twitter account.

Given the popularity of Black Panther and its cultural influence, it should come as no surprise that the tweet above is now the most liked tweet on the platform.

This means that former US president Barack Obama’s tweet quoting Nelson Mandela is no longer on the top spot.

If you want, heading over to Boseman’s tweet on Twitter will reveal millions of tributes to the actor from fellow actors, celebrities and fans.

One of our favourite tributes from the weekend was from Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton who dedicated his race win on Sunday to the late actor.

We cannot quantify how much of an impact Boseman and Black Panther had on the world. Giving black kids around the world a superhero to look up to while exemplifying the qualities of his portrayal King T’Challa in real life is something that has been missing from Hollywood of late.

Boseman’s talent and his kind nature will be missed by us all.

Rest in power Chadwick Boseman, you were taken too soon.
