The next iPad could sport same bezel-less design as the Pro

It is the end of the month, which means we’re due for our routine Apple rumour. This time around it is the next iPad that has come under the spotlight, which would make it the 8th generation of the device.

According to a report from 91Mobiles, the forthcoming iPad will be taking some design cues from its Pro brethren revealed earlier this year. This as the publication got its hands on some design layouts for the upcoming tablet.

More specifically the 10.8″ iPad is said to be sporting a far smaller bezel than previous generations and will look almost bezel-less.

As such the design will be refreshed for the new iPad lineup to share that same design language. Added to this, the device is said to sport a USB Type-C port instead of the usual Lighting option for charging and connecting the tablet, as well as a smart connector for a smart keyboard and other accessories.

Another interesting element is a magnet to help stick the Apple Pencil stylus to the device. There is also talk that the tablet will support Face ID for biometrics, which makes sense given the COVID-19-related fears at the moment.

Added to this is another report that Touch ID will be integrated on the power button on the side of the tablet. As such, it still remains to be seen what Apple will opt for when it comes to the button layout of the device, as well as the features that will be entailed therein.

These latest rumours add credence to a report in May from noted Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo who noted that a new 10.8″ iPad and a 9″ Air flavour would be in the offing later this year.

As for when these devices are expected to arrive, we may not get a fully fledged press conference as has happened in the past, with Apple instead announced the iPad refresh in a press release instead next month.

Either way, there should be some new tablet hardware to consider in coming weeks.
