Samsung users take note, Your Phone Apps feature is rolling out

This morning we were pleased to note a new addition to Your Phone – Apps.

The feature was announced and teased during Samsung Unpacked 2020 in August and while it’s very basic it’s rather useful.

Apps allows you to launch apps from the Your Phone interface without having to navigate the menus of your smartphone. The apps you use most frequently can even be pinned to your Windows Taskbar for even easier access.

This update to Your Phone is currently being rolled out to the general public according to a Windows Insider update.

“When you launch an app, it opens in a separate window outside of the Your Phone app enabling you to multitask. So, whether you need to quickly reply to a conversation, respond to your social posts, or order food, you can do it fast using your PC’s large screen, keyboard, mouse, pen and touch screen alongside your other PC apps,” Microsoft wrote to Windows Insiders.

You can see how the Apps feature works in the GIF embedded below.

In order to get this update you will need to be running Windows 10 with the October 2018 Update (or later) as well as the Your Phone and Link to Windows applications.

Your phone and PC must be on the same WiFi network and you will need a supported handset in order to make use of Apps. You can find a list of supported Samsung devices here.

Setting up Apps is rather fast and so far we’ve quite enjoyed being able to draft text messages, make calls and even play a few games with the Apps feature.

While Apple users have enjoyed this sort of functionality for a while, we’re glad that Windows users have something similar at long last.
