What does lockdown Level 2 hold? Find out at 14:00 today

Following a busy weekend for government, South Africans will find out exactly what level two of lockdown means for the country on Monday.

On Saturday evening President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that as of 00:01 on Tuesday 18th August 2020, South Africa would move to level 2 of lockdown.

Following that announcement South Africans now expect the prohibition on the sale of alcohol and tobacco related products to be lifted. However, until regulations are gazetted, Ramaphosa’s words are just that, words.

As such we now await word from the National Coronavirus Command Council on what exactly we can expect at level 2.

At 14:00 on Monday afternoon Minister of Cooperatve Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma will brief the media on regulations pertaining to level 2 lockdown.

For those looking to watch the briefing live the SABC YouTube channel will be carrying the media briefing. While government also points to its own YouTube channel as a source for the stream, that channel hasn’t been updated in a year.

As such we’ve embedded the SABC’s stream below which will start at 14:00 on Monday.

South Africans are “nearly all of the restrictions on the resumption of economic activity across most industries” to be lifted by this afternoon.
