Official Cyberpunk 2077 Illustration Contest kicks off

As we continually march towards the end of 2020 and the 19th November release date of Cyberpunk 2077, another contest involving the game has been revealed.

The simply named Illustration Contest is exactly what it sounds like: a challenge for artists to showcase their version of the game’s main location for a chance to win prizes.

“Its theme revolves around Night City – which is not only about dark alleyways and neon signs, but also vibrant streets and every-day situations… like eating ramen at a food stand. We want you to show us your version of Cyberpunk, in your own style and artistic vision,” reads the announcement.

You can see an image of the prize in the header above, but in text it’s as follows:

  • First place: Wacom Cintiq 16, Cyberpunk 2077 Collector’s Edition, Cyberpunk 2077 goodie bag (claimed value: €250 ≈ R4 849)
  • Second place: Wacom Intuos Pro M, Cyberpunk 2077 Collector’s Edition, Cyberpunk 2077 goodie bag (claimed value: €150 ≈ R 2 969)
  • Third place: Wacom Intuos S, Cyberpunk 2077 Collector’s Edition, Cyberpunk 2077 goodie bag(claimed value: €100 ≈ R1 979)

As you may have guessed by the prizes this contest is being operated in conjunction with Wacom.

While the interpretation of Night City is left up to the entrants, there is another stipulation in play. Each piece of art must feature protagonist V’s jacket, and utilise this template of the jacket’s outline in the centre of the art.

One entry is allowed per person with finished art to be sent to your-NC[AT]cdprojektred[DOT]com. The Illustration Contest has already started and will run until 6th October 2020, so there’s just over a month available.

Anyone thinking of entering should read the official details here and we also strongly recommend reading over the full rules in this six page PDF.

We’ve had a quick read through that PDF and, thankfully, there doesn’t seem to be any restriction on country, so anyone from potentially anywhere in the world can enter.

This is far from the first time that CD Projekt has created a community contest centred around its upcoming game and creative skill from the community. In the past it has also run a photography contest as well as one based on cosplay.
