Following a weekend of Stage 1 loadshedding, South Africans will have to contend with what looks to be a second week of power cuts.

From 08:00 on Monday through to 16:00 Stage 1 loadshedding will be in effect. After 16:00 Stage 2 will be in effect until 22:00.

“This pattern will repeat on Tuesday, with a high likelihood for Wednesday as well. Eskom will continue to communicate timeously should there be any changes as the system remain unreliable and vulnerable,” Eskom said in a statement on Sunday.

The good news is that Eskom has has reduced unplanned outages but unfortunately it’s not by much.

By Friday Eskom had reduced unplanned breakdowns to 11 090MW, on Sunday that figure had come down to 9 272MW.

Rather worryingly, planned maintenance increased at the weekend from 5 371MW to 6 314MW on Sunday.

As loadshedding is changing stages today we highly recommend checking your schedules online to prepare and plan your day.

Alternatively the EskomSePush app for Android or iOS smartphones delivers notifications regarding loadshedding directly to your smartphone.
