Latest Nintendo Direct Mini has a big Monster Hunter focus

Today there’s been yet another Nintendo Direct Mini focusing on third party games coming to the Nintendo Switch. While this was announced a few days ago so people expected it, what wasn’t expected was two new Monster Hunter games arriving on the Switch next year.

Not only did these games start the stream off, but they ended it too. After the Direct Mini ended a Monster Hunter Direct kicked off to show off 15 minutes of these new games.

Thankfully, for those not interested in that series of games, a plethora of other titles were shown off.

All the games and their release dates or periods are below.

  • Monster Hunter: Rise – 26th March 2021
  • Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin – Summer 2021
  • Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise – 4th December
  • Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny – Summer 2021
  • Empire of Sin – No release date given
  • Sniper Elite 4 – Holiday 2020
  • The Long Dark – Today
  • PGA Tour 2K21 – 25th September
  • Hades – Today
  • Balan Wonderworld – 26th March 2021
  • Rune Factory 5 – 2021
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps – Today

The most surprising one here, at least for us, is Hades. It’s been public knowledge for a while that the latest roguelike from Supergiant Games is coming to the Nintendo console, but no exact was ever supplied.

It arriving in the eShop today, then, is a welcome addition to the lineup. The arrival on the Switch is also good news for those playing the game on PC as the Switch port will also accompany the 1.0 release of this Early Access game.

At the time of writing our Steam install of Hades Early Access has not been updated to 1.0 yet, but as the Switch release of the game is slated for “later today” in the Direct Mini (embedded below) we suppose we may have to wait a while.
