EA Play on Game Pass: November for console, December for PC

Recently it was announced that EA Play – the game subscription service from Electronic Arts – would be incorporated into Xbox Game Pass. We now know when that will be happening: the Xbox consoles get access on 10th November, and PC has to wait a little longer into December.

Those who have been keeping up with Microsoft’s hardware may already know that 10th November is the international release date of its next-gen consoles, the Series X and the Series S. EA Play being added to Game Pass on this day is no coincidence as the service has been touted as a big reason to go with an Xbox over a new PlayStation.

The release dates for EA Play on Game Pass are different, as are the required subscription types. On console the more expensive Game Pass Ultimate is required. On PC, Ultimate also unlocks EA Play, but the cheaper PC only version of the service will also grant you access.

These names can be a bit confusing so here’s a cheat sheet:

  • Xbox Game Pass: Unlocks Game Pass for console. Does not include EA Play. It’s cheaper than Ultimate.
  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: Unlocks Game Pass for console and PC. Includes EA Play for both.
  • Xbox Game Pass for PC: Unlocks Game Pass for PC. Includes EA Play.

“Console” in the above refers to all the versions of Xbox One, as well as the upcoming Xbox Series X and Series S.

The EA Play library included with Game Pass will be a scaled down version of the full experience that Electronic Arts sells itself. Right now 76 EA games are listed on this page including newer releases such as Rocket Arena, Need for Speed Heat, NHL 20 and Madden NFL 20.
