The famous Mos Eisley Cantina is now a $350 LEGO set

Arguably the most recognisable single location in Star Wars, the Mos Eisley Cantina, will be receiving a rather large LEGO set adaptation.

How large? 3 187 pieces large. For that you’ll be paying £319.99 / €349.99 / $349.99 depending on where you live. Here in South Africa no local pricing has been announced yet, but we usually get sets close to the converted UK one.

At the time of writing £319.99 comes to around R6 943. It would be safe to squirrel away R7 000 should you want to pick one of these up, though you won’t have much time to save as it launches on 1st October worldwide. Those in countries with the LEGO VIP programme can get it early there on 16th September.

All those pieces build a scale cantina that can be opened down the middle to access the various booths and the main bar, which is in the centre of the build. In this opened state the build measures in at 19 centimetres high, 52 centimetres wide and 58 centimetres deep. That’s a rather large footprint, but it can always be closed to take up less space.

To populate the cantina and give it some life, a whopping 21 minifigures are included here. Despite LEGO making Star Wars products for more than 20 years now, this Mos Eisley Cantina set will be the first minifig appearance of eight Star Wars characters. These include characters like Dr. Evazan, Garindan and Ponda Baba.

These aren’t really characters that most people speak at lengths of, but it’s nice to see them here. The minifigure selection, as well as pictures of the cantina itself, can be seen in the gallery below.

75290: Mos Eisley Cantina is far from the first giant Star Wars area that has been replicated in LEGO. 75222: Betrayal at Cloud City, 10236: Ewok Village and 75098: Assault on Hoth are all similar in scope and high price.
