Devolver Digital’s Disc Room gets an animated release trailer

The latest game from publisher Devolver Digital, Disc Room, has an animated trailer to celebrate its launch in just a couple of short days on 22nd October.

Check it out in the embed below, but keep in mind that this is a game about being violently cut apart by spinning saw blades – the titular discs.

The trailer is rather tame though, with the characters resembling gummy cartoon characters filled with pink jelly rather than an anatomically correct human blood.

While this is a fantastically made trailer and reminded us of certain old anime, it doesn’t do much to explain what this game is.

“Are you ready to get sliced in half? The year is 2089 and a giant disc has appeared in orbit of Jupiter. Step into the oversized space suit of a brave scientist and explore this sprawling intergalactic slaughterhouse. Explore the expansive orbiting disc ship, moving room to room surviving and completing increasingly complex goals set forth. Use unlocked abilities to out maneuver dozens of different disc types while solving mysterious puzzles,” reads the game’s description.

The people behind this game aren’t a studio, but instead a collaboration between four individuals: Kitty Calis, Jan Willem Nijman, Terri Vellmann and Doseone.

The name that immediately jumps out at us there is Doseone, who provided the music for other Devolver Digital games such as Sludge Life and Enter the Gungeon. Vellmann also worked on Sludge Life as well as High Hell and Heavy Bullets. Nijman is best known for being part of the now defunct Vlambeer and Calis has games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Action Henk on the resume. Quite the dream team here.

Disc Room will be available on PC (through Steam and Epic Games Store) as well as Nintendo Switch come 22nd October.
