HP lists newly certified Intel Evo notebooks, led by the Spectre x360 14

Following a number of announcements from Intel a little over a month ago, we’ve seen a number of manufacturers reveal new devices built with the silicon provider’s technology in mind – namely 11th Gen CPUs and the Intel Evo platform. The latest devices to support the latter come from HP, and are led by the new Spectre x360 14 convertible notebook.

For those unfamiliar with Evo, it is essentially a range of features that will come standard on a certified device, such as 40 percent better responsiveness, no less than nine hours of real-world battery life and WiFi 6 functionality.

Much like the Intel Inside badge of yesteryear, Intel Evo is designed to ensure consumers know precisely what kind of performance they can expect from a notebook.

With this in mind, let’s look at the newly listed HP notebooks that are now Evo certified. These include the:

The manufacturer says the three notebooks listed above are expected in the Fall Stateside, so we should see them land locally before the year’s end. Local pricing and availability for now, remains unknown.

Focusing on the Spectre x360 14, outside of the Evo certification, HP has added a few other noteworthy elements to the mix here.

The first, as you can spot in the header image above, is the thin bezels onboard, which yields a 90.33 percent screen-to-body ratio, as well as a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is a first in the Spectre lineup.

It also has the advantage of offering 20 percent more vertical viewing space, according to HP, with the company also describing it as working on an A4 piece of paper. The latter is important, as this convertible model can rotate its screen to be used as a tablet, which should appeal to those wanting to do some design work on the device.

HP notes that the Spectre x360 14 was co-engineered with the help of Intel, this device will naturally sport the latest 11th Gen processors, which are said to deliver a 34 percent performance improvement. HP is also claiming up to 17 hours of battery life from the notebook, which would certainly come in handy if true, along with WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 and Thunderbolt 4 support.

While local pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed, in the US, the Spectre x360 14 is expected to go on sale later this month, starting at $1 200 (~R20 018), but we expect the prices to rise sharply once they land locally, not to mention the differences depending on what specifications you opt for.
