Oppo launching both the A53s and A15 on 7th November locally

Oppo is launching two new devices in South Africa later this week – 7th November to be more precise, with the devices in question being the A53s and A15 (both pictured above).

This would make three devices that Oppo has officially launched in the country, which is true to what they said in September when the Chinese mobile brand made its local bow.

We’ve already reviewed one of the three new devices in the form of the Oppo A72, which proved impressive given its price point. As such, the company will be hoping the A53s and A15 will be making a similar impact this week.

As for recommended pricing, the A53s will cost R4 999, or be available on a 24-month contract at R299 per month. The A15 comes in cheaper at R2 999 (RRP) or R199 per month on a 24-month contract.

Oppo also confirms that both devices will be available locally from Vodacom Stores, Foschini, Cellucity, 4U, Chatz, Hi-Online and Game from 7th November onwards.

In terms of specifications, the A53s and A15 are sporting the following components:

Oppo A53s Oppo A15
Display 6.5″ HD+ 6.52″ HD+
Front Camera 16MP 5MP
Rear Camera 13MP main, 2MP macro, 2MP depth sensing 13MP main, 2MP macro, 2MP depth sensing
Processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 MediaTek Helio P35
RAM 4GB 2GB
Storage 128GB 32GB
Battery 5 000mAh 4 230mAh
Price (RRP) R4 999 R2 999

With Huawei also readying its P Smart 2021 smartphone to launch this week too, which boasts many of the same specs that the A53s does, it should prove interesting to see which device sells better in the coming months.

Given how heavily Oppo has been punting its Android and Google Play compatibility, it just may have the edge over Huawei and HMS.
