It is the 4th of November, and by the end of the day we should know who the next President of the United States will be. Closer to home, however, we still have the spread of COVID-19 in South Africa to contend with.
According to the latest numbers from the National Department of Health (NDoH), the total amount of infections for the country to date has risen to 728 836, with 1 241 new cases being reported over the past 24 hours.
There have also been more than 4.86 million tests conducted, according to the NDoH, with 659 249 recoveries being reported too.
As has been the case for several weeks now, the recovery rate remains at 90 percent, and whether this figure will play a central role in determining when South Africa will move out of lockdown, remains to be seen.
Unfortunately 74 new fatalities have been reported as well, with the figure for the total number of deaths related to COVID-19 now sitting at 19 539 for South Africa.
The NDoH confirms that of the new 74 fatalities, 35 are from the Eastern Cape, six from the Free State, eight from Gauteng, six from KwaZulu-Natal, eight from the Northern Cape, and 11 from the Western Cape.
