[UPDATED]AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs start at R6 199 in South Africa

Since publishing this story, Evetech and Wootware’s pricing has changed. The pricing has been corrected but we have kept the pricing as it was listed on Thursday.

Today is a big day because the review embargo for AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs has lifted and from what we’ve seen so far, Intel is going to be playing catch-up for some time.

We recommend checking out Linus Tech Tips, Gamers Nexus and Anandtech for full reviews.

Now that you’ve done that, you’ll be looking for pricing and in that regard we can assist.

Local retailer Wootware has listed all four of the CPUs for sale on its website.

Pricing is as follows

Buying through Wootware also gives you a copy of Far Cry 6 when it is released.

Evetech has also listed the CPUs, though its pricing is quite a bit more expensive and the product is listed as “Coming Soon”.

  • AMD Ryzen 5 5600X – R6 999 R6 199
  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800X – R9 999 R8 999
  • AMD Ryzen 9 5900X – R11 999 R10 999
  • AMD Ryzen 9 5950X – R17 999 R17 499

The obvious choice here if you’re looking for a new CPU is Wootware.

Since publishing this story pricing has flipped with Evetech now offering a better price than Wootware except for the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X which is cheaper over at Wootware.

Given how much this pricing has shifted in less than 24 hours we wonder what things will look like as we move into the shopping season.

It’s also worth remembering that if you’re running a B550 or X570 motherboard you won’t have to replace your motherboard as the Ryzen 5000 series is compatible with those chipsets.
