Xbox Game Pass Ultimate now features one month of Disney+

Following a rather obvious tease on Twitter, Microsoft has announced that Game Pass Ultimate will now include one month of access to Disney+ for new subscribers.

That isn’t the only caveat, but it is an important one, as you won’t be able to take advantage of this offer if you have signed up for Disney+ before. Not that this matters to South Africans where Disney+ is still not accessible.

“Ultimate members who are new to Disney+ will be eligible to claim the 30-day subscription trial through the Perks Gallery on their Xbox console, on the Xbox app on Windows 10 PC, or through the Xbox Game Pass mobile app on iOS and Android. Once the Perk is claimed, members will be directed to the Disney+ site activate their subscription. Disney+ is also available on Xbox One and will be available on Xbox Series X and S, so you can download the app via the Microsoft Store,” product marketing manager at Xbox Game Pass, Adam Harris, said in a statement.

An important note here is that this offer is only available until 31st January.

We have to admit, this Perk is a bit of a strange one for Microsoft, primarily because of the limited availability of Disney+.

Game Pass is available in 41 countries but this perk is only applicable in 18 of those countries. Granted, those countries include the US, Canada, the UK and others but we have to wonder whether Disney+ is preparing for an expansion.

Disney+ launched over a year ago in the US and the service has slowly been expanding to other regions. The most recent launch saw the streaming service become available in Portugal, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Belgium and Luxembourg.

That was back in September however and the service has been rather quiet as regards availability in more countries.

While we continue waiting for access to Disney+ this offer might be a nice way to watch the forthcoming season of The Mandalorian, if you’re in one of the 18 countries this offer is available in.
