COVID-19 in South Africa: 27th November

It is Black Friday today, and for many South Africans, that means trawling the internet for the best possible deals and sales. While the escape of retail therapy might be good for some given what has happened in 2020, there is still the spread of COVID-19 in South Africa to consider.

To that end, concerns have been growing in recent days over the continued rise in new daily infections.

Following the latest report from the National Department of Health (NDoH), it marks consecutive days where the number has peaked over 3k. More specifically 3 069 over the past 24 hours, according to the NDoH.

The result is that the country’s total number of infections to date now sits at 778 571.

Added to this, the department is still waiting on reconciled numbers from Gauteng before it can share the most accurate recoveries and active cases numbers for the country. That said, the NDoH has shared those specific figures for other provinces.

We ho, however, have the latest figures for fatalities, which now totals 21 289.
