COVID-19 in South Africa: 10th November

As many South Africans look to the end of what has been a chaotic 2020, it still remains to be seen what lockdown level we’ll be at come the festive season. A potential indicator for what the government is thinking is the daily reports from the National Department of Health (NDoH) for COVID-19 in South Africa.

The latest report says the country’s total number of cases now sits at 738 525. This after 1 247 new cases have been recorded over the past 24 hours. Added to these numbers are more than 4.99 million tests having been conducted, along with 680 726 recoveries.

The latter number sees the recovery rate hold steady at 92 percent, with hopes of an increase in this regard, resulting in the removal of lockdown altogether.

For now though, we still need to contend with limiting the spread of COVID-19 in South Africa.

Amid all these latest numbers, the NDoH has also unfortunately confirmed that 36 new fatalities have been recorded, pushing the total number of deaths to date to 19 845.
