Despite being a standalone game Red Dead Online is 123GB

The multiplayer portion of Red Dead Redemption 2 – Red Dead Online – will be made available as a standalone game come 1st December. Despite this the multiplayer experience will eat up 123GB of space.

This has been announced by developer and publisher Rockstar Games in a full post here.

For reference the entire Red Dead Redemption 2, including Red Dead Online, is 150GB, at least going by the system requirements on Steam.

Size problems aside what can players expect from this standalone title? The aforementioned announcement highlights a few key points:

All of the above will cost you $4.99 (~R75.93) which we would commend as a great price, but this is a 75 percent off “introductory offer” which is available until 15th February 2021. This should mean that, after the offer ends, the price of the Red Dead Online standalone will be $19.99 (~R304.17).

For those who enjoy the standalone and want to upgrade to the full Red Dead Redemption 2 experience, this will be available as an option, though Rockstar Games does not state what this will cost.

The Red Dead Online standalone launches on 1st December on the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, Epic Games Store and Steam. This means that the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S will all have access to this game.
